KP-D50 This product is now discontinued The KP-D50 is ideal for observation, video conferencing and image processing systems Using digital signal processing technology, the KP-D50 colour camera offers versatile features including high resolution of 460 TV lines, high sensitivity of 2 lux minimum, backlight compensation, electronic shutter, character display, auto white balance and RS-232C remote control.     Major Features Excellent picture quality, superb sensitivity, high resolution The newly developed digital signal processing LSI is incorporated to provide excellent image quality through such signal processing as digital 2H contour compensation and high-luminance compression. The newly designed CCD sensor is equipped to provide superb sensitivity and high resolution Outstanding stability, high reliability The DSP LSI allows various functions to be controlled by the built-in microprocessor. Using the advantages of digital signal processing, outstanding stability and high reliability are ensured. A wide range of image quality control functions can be set using the on screen menu. Functions available include Character display on/off Level control mode selection Auto iris lens mode Auto electronic shutter mode plus auto iris lens mode Level detection area selection Photometric area selection for backlight correction Iris level setting AGC on/off gain setting (12, 15,18, 21dB) White balance control mode Gamma correction on/off Negative/positive image selection Shutter speed selection External sync mode selection Horizontal sync phase and sub-carrier phase adjustment Contrast correction (black stretch/white suppression) on/off Chroma level setting Pedestal level setting Contour compensation setting Character display A character generator is incorporated displaying 24 alphanumerics (one horizontal line) at any position on screen RS-232C interface The image quality control function menu items can be controlled from a personal computer. Auto white balance Two kinds of auto white balance modes are available; the auto tracking mode (ATW) and the preset mode (AWC). In addition, the manual mode is selectable for white balance. In the ATW mode, a white portion on screen is detected to perform automatic white balance adjustment in a colour temperature range of 2,500K to 8,000K In the AWC mode, a picture of a white subject is taken and white balance setting is made by switch operation. In the manual mode, the optimum colours can be obtained by adjusting the R and B gain levels. AGC function The AGC function is usable at one of four ranges of 0 to 12, 0 to 15, 0 to 18, 0 to 21dB. Backlight correction function When a strong light source or reflection exists in a scene, the auto iris value of the lens is adjusted to a lower level, resulting in a dark, unclear picture. To prevent this, the photometric areas (A, B, C, C' D, and D') are provided for compensation as shown in figure1. Figure 1 Click for larger image (107KB) Area A has the most significant effect on the iris setting. The significance of effect decreases in the order of B to D'. The user has only to shoot a scene so that important part of the subject will be put in exposure metering area A. Thus the important part is adjusted to the optimum iris level without being affected by excessive light, resulting in reproduction of a clear picture as in example 1. Example 1 Click for larger image (54KB) Under some shooting conditions, the user can move the exposure metering area A to any one of eight points shown in figure 2. Figure 2 Click for lager image (102KB) This results in a proper iris setting to reproduce a clear image as shown in example 2. Example 2 Click for lager image (46KB) In addition to the backlight correction function, the black stretch/white suppression function is provided for effective backlight correction. Auto electronic shutter The auto electronic shutter function is available in a range of 1/50s to 1/10,000th second. The shutter speed is adjusted automatically according to variation in the quantity of light to keep the output signal at the optimum level.
